The Stoic Trading Journal

Most trading mistakes aren't analysis mistakes. They're moments: the revenge trade after a loss, the size doubled on a hunch, the stop moved "just this once." This journal borrows three daily Stoic habits and points them at your trading, whether you click the buttons or a bot does.

What's inside

  • My trading rules. Max risk per trade, daily loss limit, kill switch, when you don't trade. With the real rules my open-source bot runs on as an example.
  • Daily page. A morning check of what's in your control, a trade log that won't let you enter without a stop and planned exit, and an evening review.
  • When a trade goes wrong. A five-step protocol to stop a loss from turning into a revenge trade.
  • Weekly review. Grade your process, not your P&L, and compare yourself with simply holding BTC.
  • Twelve passages for hard days. Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus and Seneca, quoted from public-domain translations with exact citations.
“Of things some are in our power, and others are not.” Epictetus, Enchiridion 1, tr. George Long

Why I made it

I run a small, slow open-source crypto trend bot with real money. Its backtest didn't beat simply holding BTC; what it bought was a smaller worst drawdown. A bot removes some decisions, not the feelings about them. This is the page I use for the feelings.

Not financial advice. Trading carries a real risk of loss.
